What should I be doing to prepare tropicals like hibiscus, bouganvillea and geraniums for moving outdoors?
Keith Funk

A: Cut back leggy winter growth by as much as 50% to shape the plant and encourage bushy new growth. Once you see new, vigorous spring growth start to appear, feed regularly every couple of weeks. Resist the urge to repot now unless your plants are seriously rootbound. Wait until you are ready to move the plants outdoors in late May when it’s warmer and the days are longer.Â
