What should I do with my Amaryllis this time of year?
A. I bring mine indoors at the very last minute before the first predicted frost. I feel like they benefit from the cool nights outdoors in the fall. Once they come indoors they go in the sunniest window I’ve got for the winter. As long as they have green leaves I keep them well watered and fertilized. Sometimes (for no reason I can figure out) they choose to take a rest and their leaves start to yellow and die off. If this happens I stop watering them and place them in a cool room until they decide to wake up. Otherwise, I treat them like any other houseplant and they will bloom when they feel like it. Usually sometime in spring. I’ve given up trying to time them for Christmas.
